Frequently Asked Questions

Canadian immigration law does not require a lawyer for submission, but legal representation helps reduce risks that are not always visible at the beginning. An immigration lawyer assesses eligibility, identifies inconsistencies, and structures the application so that it is clear and legally coherent. This is especially important where timelines, prior refusals, or complex personal circumstances exist. Legal support also ensures that communication with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada remains accurate and consistent throughout processing.

An immigration lawyer is licensed to practice law in Ontario and provides full legal representation, including legal opinions and advocacy when issues arise. Lawyers are regulated by the Law Society of Ontario and can address complex legal matters beyond standard application preparation. This level of training and accountability is especially important when a case involves refusals, admissibility concerns, or long term immigration planning. Consultants have a more limited scope of practice and cannot provide the same legal services.

We focus on federal immigration programs and programs offered by the Province of Ontario, as well as all applications related to obtaining, extending, or restoring temporary status, including Temporary Resident Permits.

At this time, we do not handle Quebec immigration programs or refugee protection claims.

This focus allows us to maintain depth of experience within our practice areas.

No. Before entering into a legal representation agreement, we assess your situation during an immigration consultation. We do not accept cases that are not currently viable or that require significant preparation before eligibility can realistically be met. In such situations, we provide practical guidance on next steps and timing before returning for representation.

Yes. We work with clients located both inside and outside Canada. Immigration services are provided remotely using a secure client portal, electronic signatures, and video consultations. Your physical location does not limit access to our services, and your application is prepared according to the same legal standards regardless of where you are currently residing.

Payment is accepted by Interac eTransfer, credit cards, and debit cards. For legal representation, fifty percent of the fee is paid upon signing the retainer agreement, with the remaining fifty percent due before your application is submitted to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. Payment terms are explained clearly before any agreement is signed.

Payment plans may be available depending on the program and preparation timeline. When application preparation is expected to take two months or longer, an individual payment schedule may be arranged. This schedule can include three to six monthly payments without interest, subject to agreement terms.

The total cost of immigration includes several separate components. These typically involve government application fees and required proof of funds to demonstrate financial ability. Additional expenses may include document preparation costs such as certified translations, notarized copies, medical examinations, and language testing. If you choose to work with a legal representative, professional fees are added to the overall cost. The final amount also depends on the selected immigration program, the number of family members included in the application, and any individual circumstances that affect case complexity.

Processing times depend on the application type, program, country of residence, and current government workload. While timelines cannot be controlled, proper preparation helps avoid delays caused by missing information or inconsistent submissions. During your consultation, we discuss expected timelines and factors that may affect your specific case.

No immigration professional can guarantee approval, as decisions are made solely by immigration officers. What legal representation provides is a well prepared and transparent application that meets program requirements and addresses potential concerns in advance. Our role is to reduce avoidable risks and ensure that your file is clear, complete, and consistent with immigration law.

Yes. Certain services are available without full representation. These include case reviews before submission, immigration consultations before or after filing, legal opinion letters, commissioning services, and preparation or certification of specific documents such as child authorization forms, common law declarations, affidavits, and statutory declarations.

Service Cost Estimate

The cost of immigration legal representation depends on the selected program, the number of family members included, the presence of complicating factors such as prior refusals, inadmissibility, or criminal history, and the preparation timeline.
